Customer Reviews

If you want to get to know Cape Town, understand its history, feel its heart beat and mix with the locals then a trip to a township is vital. (along with Robben Island and District 6). We chose Local Knowledge from a youtube video I watched before I went so I knew they were local, I really wanted to avoid driving through a township peering through a bus window and taking photos as that would be like visiting a zoo. We (me, my wife and 2 daughters aged 18 and 15) went to Langa and Nick was our guide and we were joined by a local guide from Langa itself. Nick was fantastic, knowledgeable about the area and people but passionate about helping and supporting them. The description on the tour on their website is spot on, meeting the toddlers in school, joining in a drumming session, to the lady’s making pottery, to the your man making cakes with wine, meeting Shooter in his fantastic home just made this trip one to remember. My wife was a little concerned about safety before we went but rest assured there is no need to be. We were made to feel very welcome by everyone and felt extremely safe walking the streets with Nick and his guide and we really got a great snap shot of local life in Langa. Since my return this is the trip I have not stopped talking about and I would not hesitate to recommend Local Knowledge Tours. - Iain Beech
